Assassin's Creed 2 first impressions are mighty positive

The official Xbox 360 magazine has revealed a few interesting tidbits of information on their website regarding the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed 2, including news that it will feature a property investment mini-game that they describe as being “rewarding and fun.”
Judging by their remarks, which are based on time spent playing the game in preparation for review, it appears that the main character Ezio will have a range of combat moves that Altair didn’t have in the first game, including the ability to “pick people up and throw them around” and “kick them while they’re on the ground.” The reviewer describes the combat as “FANTASTICALLY violent.”
Furthermore, they’ve revealed that we’ll be able to jump into a Gondola and punt around the canals of Venice. Though nothing was revealed about the game’s storyline, they have said that the ending of Assassin's Creed 1 will be explained and that the game is "infinitely better than the first game." Sounds very promising!
We’ll have a full review of Assassin’s Creed II ahead of its release date in North America on November 17, 2009 and in PAL regions on November 20, 2009.

iono, i made it to an event in early october to play the game, I spoke with one of the designer, the game looks almost done and very polished, looks great and all, but then the setup of the event had uncharted 2 right beside it, and made ACII look terrible. But anyways if anyone is intersting in my convo with the lead level designer for ACII, http://www.youtube.com/user/Taehyunnie#p/a/u/1/pNej3aZ2Ni4

Very well. I will be the first to buy this. because i have a jet that takes me to the place that makes them and i always get what i want, plus when im on the jet i can just fly around and smoke, and play ps3 on 80' lcd tv. waste gas. and pop bottles. when i use the washroom on my jet i can flush on all the starving children in Africa. then when i land i can buy a sh** load of fast food and watch football all day but i will play AC2 all night, cuz at night i really do it big, i call all the sortys to come and smoke, and play AC2! plus give/receive "back rubs." im just stunner like that. up there with little wayne and u know, the same 36 same songs on the radio. those people type rich, ceo, big boss. so take your little 9 to 5 and stuff it, because im Barak Obama.

@7, Please don't bring politics into a video game discussion. On another note, Please message me, I can help you find a good vet to check you out, you seem to have problems.
Anyways, sounds interesting but I won't pick it up upon release, I've already exhausted most of my spending funds on other games such as Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare and Ratchet and Clank this fourth quarter, need to save for Christmas!.

Not only was I annoyed with the gameplay in the first one, but the cutscenes were badly done and the main character was such a stuckup d*****bag that I didn't care what happened to him. I hope these are all fixed as this does sound promising.

"Infinitely better than the first game" is great to hear. However I would be much more pleased if he said "infinitely less buggy than the first game", because that's my main concern. I didn't think Assassin's Creed was a bad game, in fact I really enjoyed it. What I didn't like was the fact that I couldn't even finish it on my console because my copy had a game-breaking glitch that Ubisoft never replaced.

I played the first one and got (infinitely) bored after about 2 hours of doing the same thing over and over. Theres no way a cross platform game is getting my hard earned 60 bones. Dumbed down graphics are not appealing after playing Uncharted 2. I personally think if a company want to do a cross platform game they should sell it for 40$, then you know upfront you are getting mediocre production value.

As the biggest (heavily stressed) Assassin's Creed fan I know, I know this will be among my greatest games of all time. I'm not gonna say "I'm the greatest Assassin's Creed fan in the world", becasue that's plain stupidity; let's just say I'm confident that I'm up there though.
Some people may criticise me for my views on what I consider such a masterpiece, but it takes a lot more to appreciate a marvel than some may think. This game is a work of art to me.
Words cannot describe how I feel about this game. The game itself can it do the talking.

@ 5 you haven't played the 2nd one, it looks betta than the first. don't judge a game before you even play it yet. i'll probably get this game after about a week or two because of modern warfare 2 :Hopefully naziz zombie mini game is on there also. and left 4 dead 2. after i get those games well played out i might buy AC 2. i just hope there's no stupid ending and freezing like there first. that ruined the game when you ran into a corner and your ps3 froze.

@39
I never said this will be among my greatest games, but I have the feeling that it will be. Basically, the first Assassin's Creed is currently amongst my favourite games now. I've been following this game for a while now, and there is no evidence to suggest that I will not find this game better than the original. I'm not saying it will be better - I cannot know if it will be - but judging from the information that I do know, this game seems much better than the original. If it's even anywhere near as good, it will be one of my favourite games, regardless of how good the game itself is. I love the IP that much. A reason I adored the original so much is because of the first impression it had on my. A lot of games have initial impacts on people which influences how they feel about it. When I first heard of Assassin's Creed, I loved the concept, and form the very first trailers and adverts, this game had a strong impact on me. And I loved it. Therefore, due to this being the sequel, it's perfectly logical to assume that this will at least be among my favourite titles. The difference is, LAIR was a new IP, but this is an already established franchise, and I love anything Assassin's Creed - although I adored the IP even before the original - but all I'm saying is this game impressed me and grabbed my attention so well, through advertising (like all great games do) that I can confidently say this will be one of my greatest games. It's just the way I feel about the franchise; and Assassin's Creed's already proven itself to me by establishing the IP with such an astonishing original.
So how can I say this is going to be among my greatest games? Quite easily, thank you.
@43
The original Assassin's Creed was developed on the Xbox 360. I've been shown screenshots by people claiming the Xbox's graphics are better, but for some reason I find the PS3 version's superior - it's not bias, I came to this conclusion before I was told which version was which - as the colours appeared too vibrant and vivid on the 360 version given the atmosphere. The PS3 version appeared to have a greater atmosphere given the setting.
I've heard, although am unsure, that Assassin's Creed 2, however, will be developed on the PlayStation 3 as the lead platform. I haven't heard an official word on it, but there's a lot of material that suggests this is true. My main reason for suspecting this is the inclusion of additional stuff exclusive to the PS3 version, brought about by the development of the spinoff, Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, which is exclusive to PSP. For these reasons, I can only assume that Ubisoft Montreal are using the PS3 as the lead platform.
Don't take my word for it though.

@9 I completely agree with you. They can hype this game all they want too, but it will not persuade me into even RENTING it. Yeah, it may sound bad. I had the first game on reserve before I even bought my PS3. Imagine my disappointment after years of delays that I had when I was finally able to play it. In all honesty I think I played for maybe 3 hours and never turned it on again. The game was bad. All the hype, utter fail! I will not be playing ACII.

@45 That would be great if Ubisoft M used the PS3 as the lead platform. That would give a lot of merit to the game. If that is the case than I may need to pick this baby up. Can't stand spending $60 on games that are developed on the x-box, I try and stay away from that except, Call of Duty and EA sport games (recent ones).

To be honest, I'm glad that the majority of people do not like this game. That way, it won't succµmb to ridiculous overrating similar to the likes of Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid. These recieve insanely high reviews due to their massive fanbase. Assassin's Creed is not perfect, so it shouldn't get an incredibly high rating, like Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid do. Although the games stand in a similar territory given their technological prowess, it is the huge fanbase of these games that drive their ratings up. Due to Assassin's Creed having a relatively low number of fans, there will be no supporters influencing reviews and pushing them up. Both Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid are undeniably overrated, but it's because they appeal to such a wide range of people that they have accµmulated such a large amount of fans, and it's these people that throw their undying loyalty to a game that forces its review up. Thus, overrating.
Assassin's Creed
lacks this support from a large fanbase, due to having faults that many cannot accept. Therefore its reviews are not forced insanely high akin to some of the other games out there.
It's this lack of a fanbase that makes people like me stand out. Due to so many people hating the IP, when the occasional person admits that they do enjoy the franchise, it reveals their unique preference for games. In the same way that I do not like people having the same preferences as me, I enjoy standing out for my unique personal tastes. I like having widely differing views to others as it's what defines me as a gamer!
