Game developers of the world, EA has a lesson for you: gamers will pay for high-end downloadable games as long as they're worth the money.
The excellent Battlefield 1943 has amassed over 600,000 downloads on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace since its launch two weeks ago, and has also become the fastest-selling day one and week one download-only game on both platforms.
"We are honored by the reception that the game has received so far," says Gordon Van Dyke, producer on Battlefield 1943. "Watching and participating in this non-stop multiplayer action has been a real treat for us and we can't believe how fast our fans reached 43 million kills. We can now truly say that we have set a new standard for what can be done in the downloadable games category and gamers recognize the endless value that Battlefield 1943 provides for just $15."
If you haven't jumped on board just yet, be sure to check out our Battlefield 1943 review for more info on this groundbreaking downloadable game.

I must have missed out on that demo because that is the reason I didn't pick it up just didn't do anything for me. I guess this is the future though because I am sure when they start the micro transactions and release dlc and new map packs this 15.00 game will start to climb in price quickly. Main problem being you can't trade it in or even sell it on the bay when MW2 hits and I fear at that point there are going to be a lot of empty beaches out there. Alas I am just hating because I didn't pick it up so carry on.

@ 10 thats a retarded opinion. anyone who plays first person shooters online love to shoot each other. you would not say that to a 25 year old call of duty 4 fan to their face would you???? highly doubt it.

@10. Are you imlying only children play FPS? I would go further. Kids do love their video games.
Racing games. Kids do love to go in circles round and found and round, don't they? RPG games. Kids do love to level up, endlessly, don't they?

The only think that sucks is the voice chat is retarded like in all EA games. It cuts out after 1 minute of gameplay and they havent been able to fix it yet. Same problem Bad Co. had. Its disapointing that 600,000 people bought it and none of them can talk to eachother!!!!!!! Fix it and its awesome otherwise kinda sucks. Also 24 people is not enough for the huge maps that are released, doesnt capture the battles that took place. Add voice and more people and it would be a good game.

Not very shocking imo. The Battlefield series (-Bad Company) Have always delivered and this one is no exception. I don't use voice on most games and I'm glad I don't have to hear any idiots on this. Nothing will make me quit a game faster than being forced to hear some loud mouth swearing or a kid that can sing in a choir doing both.
