The first downloadable content for Borderlands, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, is scheduled for release later this year, 2K Games announced today. The DLC is being developed by Gearbox Software and will cost $9.99 USD.

With the release of Borderlands coming to PlayStation 3 and other platforms next week, 2K Games and Gearbox Software are hard at work to keep the game fresh over the coming months. The Zombie Island DLC sets players on a task to assist Dr. Ned, who created zombies and other abominations that are set loose on the island. This new expansion will provide new quests, rare loot drops, and new enemies. This is the first in a series of planned DLC packs for Borderlands.

Borderlands will be available at retailers in North America on Oct. 20 and everywhere else on Oct. 23. The game features co-op integration that blends the single-player and multiplayer experiences. Players can freely join or leave each other’s games at any time. The game also features a weapon generation system that offers a near infinite variety of weapons to the player.

This starting to sound more like Fallout 3 every second which is a very good thing.

@3 for 60 bucks you get a full game the dlc is meant to be a complement  to the main game like Fallout 3 the dlc was anounced like 3 months before yet they still mangaged to give you a 100+ hour game for $60 and no one is forcing you to pick it up.

I pre-ordered this game. I'm sure I'll get the DLC anywho, but it really makes me mad when they announce DLC BEFORE a game comes out. That pretty much means it should be in the game but they want to suck another 10 dollars out your pocket.

DLC announced before the game is even released?!How very rubbish.

Shame this seems to be the norm nowadays.

the fact that this game has nearly gone gold sahould indicate that there still working on the dlc thus it wouldnt of been in the game anyway. i like how when fallout did this exact same thing people didnt moan half as much. some people just have nothing better to do.......................

comon guys its obvious then finnished the game, then started working on the DLC, if they had included it on the disc we would have had to wait longer to get the game, if you dont want the DLC dont buy it.

The crying about DLC expansions is getting really old. No one whines about the WoW expansions. You're not getting half a game for $60.

They should add some free DLC like Valve for example.

I smell "pay-to-unlock-purchased-disc-content" here. Hmmm, strange. Strange indeed. WATSON! MY COAT!

FloodOne you are an idiot... the WoW expansions are massive. They are basically a new game every expac. They offer thousands of hours worth of gameplay (personally I call it time sinks lol)

This will probably be 1 hour long..

WoW expansions last about 2 years before the next one hits.

Oh yea and the expansions cost $29 for thousands of hours worth of gameplay vs $10 for probably 1-2 hours worth of gameplay. If this is at least 10-15 hours then it is an ok DLC.. if not then its a rip-off

I have the game and can't think why I should spend another £9.99 for some DLC which could of waited to be added to the final release version of the game. I will say that this game is worth £40 which I paid on day of release unaware of DLC.

Patience is truly a virtue many don't possess. Some have more money then sense and some bark louder then they bite.  Take your complaints to the DEVS
