Infinity Ward has revealed that its hotly anticipated shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will feature a third-person perspective as part of a new play list mode in the game’s multiplayer component.
“3rd Person is a new playlist mode in Multiplayer,” community boss Robert Bowling told Kotaku. “So you can play your favorite playlists [or] game types, like Team Deathmatch just standard, or in Hardcore mode ([with] limited HUD and increased bullet damage) or in the new 3rd Person mode, which means you and everyone in the game is in 3rd person.”
“When you’re in a 3rd Person playlist you can’t toggle in and out, you’re always in 3rd person,” added Bowling. “You can’t toggle 3rd person view on or off in a standard game type either, people in 3rd person can’t play with people in 1st person, they’re entirely different game modes. This is just another way to play the game.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is due out worldwide on November 10.

Glad you cant toggle between. That would have killed it.

Ok, now I'm looking forward to something from MW2! And its so good that they kept them separate as being in third person would give you a massive advantage with your field of view!
I'm so glad they added this mode, something new from a dying series! :D

at least this 3rd person mode is more like Uncharted rather than MGO. Seriously in MGO it was impossible to sneak up on sum1 thanks to the camera angle where they could see all around them a mile away.

@12 you can rotate 360 degrees in Uncharted. Also with MGO hiding in a box is very useful to use to creep up on people :D

@23
no, you are looking foolish by not being able to identify that i was ranting about them keeping some maps to cash in later. Dont take my rant word for word and stop defending their cheap tactics.
And 14 maps is not a lot. i guess its ok but they could have made more.

As long as you can't rotate the camera. I can see the corner campers already in my head. People sitting at a corner, camera looking around the corner, waiting for someone up the street to walk by a spot where their c-4 is placed. This would ruin the game kinda like a constant uav going on all the time. Part of the fun of cod4 was the surprise of rounding a corner ya know.

@33
"MW2 to have at least two map packs"
read that. 2! those will prob have 3 maps a piece. so thats 6. not 14 like you stated.
i also hardly think they are going to have the time to have already made 30 maps in total in the 2 years they have been developing this (which was your point originally)
it also says nothing about them already have been made
give me a break

@34
Key word being AT LEAST and if those are timed exclusives to the Xbox its obvious they will have a third. They had*(not sure if third is out as i dont have the game) 3 map packs for WAW. MW2 could shatter the series selling records, what makes you sanely believe they wont have 3 map packs, like WAW or more?

that wasn't the point you're drifting off in to another topic. the point was, you said they have already made 30 maps when they clearly havent. we all know they are going to release DLC and we all know the xbox is getting the DLC first.
they have 16 maps on the disc, and you were saying that wasnt enough? thats more than what COD4 had so i dont think you can complain really.
see what im getting at?
even if they are holding maps back you cant complain cause 16 is a lot considering what you normally get on the disc (which i doubt because the article you linked me to says they are waiting for user feedback first anyway)

@ Emmerich
I'll be getting the game at the midnight opening at gamestation so im suffering the retail..They have already said theres going to be DLC when the game itself hasent been out yet. My point is for needless 3rd person alternative the space and dev time could be put to better use like more maps.
"If it aint broke dont fix it" seems to fit well

@emmerich and javelinpr
Consumers have every right to complain. Just because there are more maps, doesn't mean we have no right to complain. It's not like Infinity Ward can say:
"We know you wanted more maps, but at least we put in more than last time, so shut it!"
Anyone's entitled to an opinion, and if anyone feels that 16 is not enough, then they have every reason to complain. The whole "at least they have more than last time argument" is rather weak. If theew were just 2 maps in Modern Warfare, but 3 in Modern Warfare 2, by your logic, you're saying that's satisfactory, because there's more than last time. However, 3 maps is very, very little, and consumers have every right to complain about the number of maps, regardless of whether there are more or not. In my example, I used 3 maps as an extension from 2, which is undeniably a small amount, but in reality, Infinity Ward are using 16 maps as an extension form however many there were before. Some people, like myself, will still consider this as a small number of maps. Therefore anyone can complain if they feel this is not enough!
Regarding your ongoing argument, which I've been following the whole time:
javelinpr was initially wrong. By stating "they have" made 30 maps, you're leading people to believe this is fact, which is where emmerich disagreed with you. However, emmerich was rather unreasonable for using a direct insult just because of trouble in communication.
I believe javelinpr is right, and they do have additional maps prepared that they can release as DLC. However, he was wrong in stating it as if it was a fact without backing it with evidence. It was the poor communication of stating this as a fact that led to the argument.
Long story short:
javelinpr, you're wrong for stating your opinion as fact.
emmerich, you're wrong for bringing insults in due to lack of communication.
You're both bringing speculations and opinions into this and insulting eachother due to a lack of communication.

Personally im cool with it. i play SOCOM and have been doing so since 2002. I enjoy first person as well but this will be interesting as 3rd person is my preference. If you dont like 3rd person dont play it. problem solved.
