PS3 gets Dante's Inferno demo first

PlayStation 3 owners will get the first crack at a free demo for Dante’s Inferno, EA announced today. The free demo, which we announced last month, will hit the PlayStation Network on December 10 followed by a release on Xbox LIVE on December 24. The demo includes the entire first level.
The ‘Gates of Hell’ demo will help introduce you to the main character, and show off the game’s action and combat. This hack-n-slash game will pin you against hordes of enemies in your quest to battle Death. After defeating Death, you’ll take over his scythe, a powerful holy cross, and head into the Gates of Hell.
“The world of Alighieri’s Dante’s Inferno is such a rich, detailed, and often alarming universe, that all of us at Visceral Games put our hearts, and dare I say souls, into creating something truly intense and exciting,” said executive producer Jonathan Knight. “We hope gamers enjoy this tease of hell, and come away from the experience lusting for more when the game comes out on February 9.”
The game is being developed by Visceral Games, which was the team behind Dead Space. You can expect Dante’s Inferno to run at a blazing-fast 60 frames per second with unique environments for every level of hell.
Look for the demo on PS3 on December 10, and the North American release on February 9, 2009 and in Europe on February 12, 2010. The game will be available on PS3, Xbox 360, and the PSP.

Exclusive demos are lame. No matter what console they're for. On another note, i'm kind of curious about this game so it's good to hear that there will be a demo soon.

I must say, i'm liking how we are now getting the exclusive betas and early demos. It's a pretty nice change.

I was gonna buy it anyway...just not until loooooong after release and this demo wont change that, unless it sucks then it will lead to me not buying it at all

Hush404 nailed it. Not to mention that it's coming out the month before GoW3. I already have my preorder in for Kratos, but I'll still try the demo. I'm interested in seeing their formula.
(Putting on my conspiracy cap for a moment):
I'm thinking that the real reason for this games existence is to test the waters on the 360. Mainly because this is the closest thing to GoW on that platform. If it does well, you can bet m$ will be knocking on their door with a check. It's hit or miss on the PS3 since GoW is already the gold standard. Ms is hoping our platform vanity will get the better of us so they can easily convince EA to make subsequent Dante installments exclusive to the 360. Presto!: more platform rivalry.

Looking forward to this big time. have never played GOW but will be getting the collection and GOW3 as soon as they're availeable in Europe. I'd say this will be great though as so far it looks real good and is from the same team who made Dead Space, what a game that was!

MS is putting it on PS3 first because they are seeing the sales of the PS3 going throu the roof. Just laast week the PS3 sold over 400,000 throu black friday week. and I dont know if that is only in US or not but they see us taking over again. Smart move MS you know the real system.

I agree with most of you, this game is going to be good but so close to GOW3???? I have to try the demo and it better has to be a really good game to glue me for the time to fill before Kratos comes and smacks it aside.
#16 if you haven't played GOW yet and are waiting for the collection to arrive to Europe I will recommend to import it and enjoy it, it is AWESOME!!!!

this is great news...this company seems to be in favor of the ps3...this is good, we can hopefully expect an exclusive game from them on ps3 in the near future

This game could be cool, it will likely we a GOW wannabe, but thats not a bad thing. If I had to choose between them Id stick with GOW3, but ill likely play both.

i'm wondering about this game. i wouldnt have shown any interest in it if it werent for the fact its from the makers of dead space. but i will give the demo a try at least.
